About this course

Aim of this course |
|
 |
This course is designed for students and researchers in
aquaculture and aims to give basic information on analytical techniques that
are most currently used in nutritional research, specifically in
aquaculture.
This course is available on CD and online via the homepage of
the Laboratory of Aquaculture & Artemia
Reference Center (Ghent University, Belgium) under the section "Course
Material". The course starts with a chapter on "General issues". This
covers issues that are relevant to all analytical work and that are essential
for a proper understanding and execution of the actual analytic
procedures. Then a comprehensive chapter on the analytical techniques itself
is presented. These cover in detail the different analytical procedures
complemented where needed with basic principles on organic chemistry. The
course contains a comprehensive list of references used and useful links for
further information. A glossary enables to find short explanation on terms and
concepts used throughout the course.
| How to use this course |
| |
The course is conceived as a fairly
simple, mostly linear story. At any time, the navigation bar (green bar
on top of pages) indicates your actual position in the course. It also offers
the possibility to return to previous or higher levels of the course and
eventually to the main menu. In the left upper corner of each page a
"Jump to" buttom allows to pull down a site map enabling
quick jumps to any section of the course. This feature uses Java script, it implies your
computer and browser can handle this software, if not, you may choose to
install Java software. The script is called EZmenu and is written by Web-Nova. It is free for use but then it automatically opens a new window on the Web-Nova homepage. You have to leave this window open but then you can
simply continue working in the course.
The course contains numerous internal links that
connect to other relevant sections of the course. They are indicated in
light blue. External links (indicated in
green) connect to
information on internet and is therefore only accessible if you are connected
online when using the CD.
