Cast nets

Perhaps the oldest and most simple method of partial harvest is by cast-nets. Harvest success can be improved by placing food in selected locations, which are then netted after the shrimp are drawn to the food. Cast-netting is not very efficient in terms of kg harvested per man-hour, but it can be cost effective where labor is inexpensive. It can be done with one person, and is best used when small quantities of shrimp are needed (Fast, 1992).
