HETEROTROPHIC MARINE BACTERIA AS SUPPLEMENTAL FEED FOR LARVAL PENAEUS MONODON

Mohamed, K.S.-1996

NAGA, the ICLARM Quarterly, January 1996

This study demonstrates that bacterial biomass (with higher protein content than in algae) could be further investigated as a partial substitute for microalgae in penaeid shrimp larviculture: 50 % replacement of Chaetoceros gave better survival and faster metamorphosis than in Chaetoceros alone. Could thus be used for a probiotic effect and as a supplementary feed.
