WORLD TILAPIA ASSOCIATION PROGRESS REPORT
As of now we have just over 30 names from Tilapia people who want to either be a part of the formation process or who just want to be members. Our first Newsletter will have status reports from 8 to 10 farmers in as many locations from Hong Kong to Mississippi. The reports will be casual in nature with emphasis on the writers experiences in starting the farming process to growing and marketing and may include some new market statistics from one of our volunteer Local Coordinators. Can not make any promises until
submissions are in, but we are gaining at the moment around one person per day World wide. So the first Newsletter should be interesting and informative.
We are getting very active response from Central and South America and Asia and even Australia.
We also plan to have monthly features on questions to be answered, regulatory issues, feed issues and hope each person submitting an article feels free to say what they really think about various issues. We won't repeat expletives, but anything else goes.
If you would like to be on the newsletter mailing list or want more
information, email us, for now we are not charging dues, however after the first few newsletters we will have our membership fees set and know where to tell you to send them to get your password. Just send a reply with subject WTA and Mail list. You will be dropped from the list after 90 days if you decide you are not interested. For now we are seeking more success stories and exciting events as told from the Tilapia persons vantage point. Remember if you speak another language you may submit in that language, however we
require a clear summary in English so both can be published together. Maybe we will even begin to learn to translate for ourselves.
As of now all of each newsletter will be accessible to everyone but later a major section of each months Web Site Newsletter will be accessible to everyone, while special areas will be accessible only to dues paid members who have the current password. But that won't go into effect for about 3 months or so. So those who wish can be on an email list and those who prefer can drop into the Web Site and download whatever they want at their own discretion.
Target date for first issue is March 1, and no I won't put it on Aqua L, and please anyone who wants to communicate about WTA do so at:
