OZONE TREATMENTS IN PRAWN HATCHERY

Ozone is a very good sterilizer for seawater if large volumes of water are needed. Also acts as a floculant for small particulates to permit removal by filteration. Recommend minimum 10 min detention time (ozone contact period) prior to reaeration, to remove excess ozone before returning to tank. CAUTION: Ozone use in natural seawater causes byproduct of hyperbromous acid due to the natural presence of Bromine. Test for this on a regular basis. If artificial seawater is being used, use Bromine free concentrate.

If the hatchery is recirculated with natural seawater and very minimal water exchange. Consider U.V.
