The aim of the course is to consider how information technology is

benefiting aquaculture and how different types of information can be

integrated and analysed to improve planning and management using

modern computer and network technologies.

The course is aimed particularly at aquaculture managers, although

communications and information technology associated with the

aquaculture industry - e.g. suppliers, post-harvest and marketing

managers, consultants, trainers and educators. Some familiarity with

PCs will be assumed, particularly on days 2 and 3, but the main

control

and alarm systems etc.)

- Data management and security

- Scale up to client-server systems

- Data mining

The course will be a mix of presentations, demonstrations and hands-

laboratories. Some of the sessions will be in workshop format

allowing participants to spend more hands-on time on subjects which

are of particular interest. The programme is based on our research of

industry need, but please let us know if there are any topics you

would particularly like to see covered. Contributors will be drawn

from the University of Stirling, Ghent University, Institute of

Marine Biology of Crete, Industry (e.g. Marine Harvest McConnell)
