We had a very good chance to see coastal and inland aquaculture industry in Thailand recently.
In one seabass hatchery they culture rotifers in earthen ponds very
successfully. They do not feed them algae. They just add
Ajenamoto (Ami Ami) with fermented mackerel fish. Do Ami Ami and mackerel provide the nutrients required for rotifers? Can this technique be used under laboratory conditions? In another massive shrimp hatchery (20 million nauplii/day) they use a recirculating system. They use ozone to treat the water in 0.5 - 1.0 ha earthen ponds. Is it effective to treat such a big water volume?
