TRAINING ON ABALONE

This is a general inquiry to all of you interested in abalone health or molluscan health. I have had several inquiries regarding training in abalone pathology/culture management. Several people have or will be visiting my lab for training this year. Training includes lectures on abalone anatomy (gross and microscopic), principle diseases and research regarding specific topics (e.g. withering syndrome, Perkinsiosis, shell mycosis, sabellids, Polydora, L. haliotidis, fungal tubercles, etc.)

Lectures will also cover health management, regulations, therapeutants, and diagnostic cases, visits to land and/or off-shore facility, etc.

I am thinking of offering a two week course next year covering these topics in order to accommodate a number of people at one time.

As many people are also interested in diseases of commerically important shellfish other than abalone, we may offer a related course (eg covering oysters, mussels, clams) or one comprehensive course.

Please email me to let me know if any interest exists for such a course or courses. Also, please specify which course would interest you:
