Freshwater Anostraca offer a potential for a variety of technical applications. These include production in aquaculture facilities or harvesting from natural reserves of cysts or biomass. However, economical realism limits the number of viable options to either subsidized, or to well focussed activities aimed at end-products with a high added value.
