Abstract:
Undescribed virus was isolated from juvenile rockfish (Sebastes schlegeli) culture in Korea. Virus particles were non-enveloped, icosahedral with a 60-64 nm diameter, resistant to chloroform and heat and stable at pH 3, 7 and 10. Virus isolates were partly neutralised by antisera against four serotypes of infectious pancreatic necrosis virus (IPNV) used in this study, indicating some relationship with IPNV. Electrophoretic analysis of the virus genome from the new isolates revealed two segments of double stranded RNA which is a typical characteristic of birnaviruses.
