QUALITY STANDARDS AND QUALITATIVE PARAMETERS DETERMINATION OF SCALLOP (CHLAMYS FARRERI) SEEDSTOCK

W. Yuanlong, Y. Xiaoyan, L. Gang, S. Xiewan, W. Jianwei It is proposed in the paper that scallop (Chlamys farreri) seedstock are supposed to be divided into three kinds of size according to the height of shell. The scallop of 0.5 cm </= H < 1.0 cm fall into the small-sized seedstock, the ones of 1.0 cm </= H < 2.0 cm belong to medium-sized seedstock and the ones of H >/= 2.0 cm pertain to large size seedstock. Healthy, active, even size seedstock of no adherends are required by the quality standards and the appearance. The yield must be >/= 95% and the rate of odd shape, injured, empty ones must be </= 2% for small-sized seedstock. For medium-sized and large-sized and large-size seedstock the yield needs to be 90% and the odd shape, injured, empty ones must be </= 3%. Nearly 10,000 pieces of scallop seedstock which are collected in hatchery (A) and from open sea (B) are divided into several parts according to biological statistics. The qualitative parameters are figured out and statistical graphs of shell height, shell length and shell weight are worked out through calculation of random sampling. Linear regressive equations of shell height (H) and shell length (L) of the form L=0.8338H +0.0039, r=0.9994 (A); L=0.8206H+0.0235, r=0.9997 (B) and curvic regressive equations of shell height (H) and body weight (G) of the form G=0.008853e^2.3924 H, r=0.9697 (A), G=0.009283e^2.3528H, r=0.9677 (B) are also worked out.

This paper can provide basis for reasonable sampling, calculation of dealing with seedstock sellers and aquafarmers. It can also provide valuable reference information for research and education units.
