SEVENTH INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SALT LAKES
September 12-15, 1999
Death Valley, California, USA
Organized by:
International Society for Salt Lake Research
Societas Internationalis Limnologiae
University of California, Santa Barbara
Limnological research on saline lakes occurs worldwide and includes scientists from a diversity of disciplines. Since 1979 a series of international symposia on inland saline waters have served to strengthen and expand the scope of these studies. The seventh conference will continue this tradition with a set of plenary talks and special oral and poster sessions focusing on promising research directions. Special session topics will include the roles of microbial and metazoan communities in nutrient dynamics, the influence of habitat geochemistry on biogeography of flora and fauna, benthic-pelagic linkages in saline lakes, modeling population and ecosystem processes, physical and geochemical processes, molecular adaptations to extreme environments, and the conservation of inland saline waters.
