SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITIES IN BARCELONA AQUARIUM
The Barcelona Aquarium is one of the largest aquaria in Europe and the largest in the Mediterranean area, with a capacity of 6 million of litres of water and over 250 species on exhibit, covering the Mediterranean, Atlantic and tropical marine environments. With our scientific support it plans to apply to the V Framework Programme "Improving the Human Research Potential & the Socio-Economic Knowledge Base. Access to Research Infrastructures" of the European Union. The objective is to offer its facilities to the European scientific community working on several aspects of marine biology, including invertebrate and fish biology, fisheries, ecology, aquaculture, etc.
Scientific staff from your institution could benefit from these facilities, which would made it possible to carry out research activities for periods from two weeks up to four months that perhaps you cannot perform at your home institution. The costs for using the infrastructures offered by the Aquarium, travel and living expenses will be covered by the E.U. If you are potentially interested in using the facilities of the Barcelona Aquarium, please send a letter showing your interest before April 16th.
