FLATFISH WORKSHOP

4 August 1999, Halifax, Canada

We are hosting a one-day flatfish aquaculture workshop at IMB (address below) in Halifax, August 4 from 9AM - 3:30PM. The agenda includes a presentation by Dr. Dong Soo Kim, a Korean scientist who has been collaborating with our aquaculture team on reproductive technologies (triploidy, etc.) He has much practical experience in Korea's industry (over 300 Japanese flounder farms) which he will also share with participants. Additionally, there will be talks on the development of digestive systems, micro-satellite markers for broodstock development and plenty of opportunity for people to exchange ideas and experiences. Tours of NRC-Halifax facilities will also be available, along with an ample supply of Nova Scotia hospitality. Due to the relatively short notice, we are focusing our invitation efforts on regional (Newfoundland to New England) flatfish interests, but all are welcome to attend.
