Objectives:
The principle objective of this Symposium is to summarize and re-evaluate the status of blue crab research and management, and, in doing so, identify important questions and new research approaches. The Symposium should bring together biologists, ecologists, oceanographers, fisheries scientists, and resource managers. We welcome descriptions of new technological advances, methodologies, and analytical approaches, and encourage interdisciplinary contributions across a continuum of spatial and temporal scales.
Topics:
Contributions are encouraged in, but not limited to, the following
research areas:
- Molting, growth and mortality estimates
- Reproduction and embryonic development
- Diseases and defensive responses
- General & environmental physiology
- Responses to contaminants
- Planktonic larval biology and ecology
- Ecology of early benthic juveniles
- Ecology of juveniles and adults
- Population dynamics and fisheries management
