WHITE SPOT SYNDROME VIRUS (WSSV) AND ITS TRANSMISSION IN SHRIMP MATURATION FACILITIES IN ECUADOR

N.F. Gervais

At present, the possibility of a vertical transmission, from parents to offspring, of the white spot virus (WSSV) it is still being analyzed, however, there is also the theory that the eggs contaminated with the virus will not hatch and therefore are not viable. This paper will provide new data and information on the different forms of transmission of the WSSV. A work protocol has been set up in the maturation area of a commercial hatchery. Disinfected and non-disinfected eggs and nauplil samples are analyzed using the PCR test (Polymerase Chain Reaction). The results are still being processed.
