Abstract :
Macrobrachium rosenbergii (de Man 1879) were reared at different stocking densities and under different nutritional regimes in order to determine a valid index of condition. Based on observations of these larvae a condition index was developed, using the Apgar three-point numerical scale to assess the health of human babies. This index allows a quantifiable assessment of larvae at any stage in their development and should be of value for both commercial and research purposes.
