QUESTION:
A species of marine polychaete Neanthes japonica is being considered for
freeze/drying. The freeze dried (FD) polychaetes will be used as
maturation diet for shrimp broodstocks. We hope to get some
information about the possibility of FD polychaetes as maturation diet for
shrimp broodstocks.

COMMENTS 3 :
Freeze-drying (FD) will conserve the nutritional value of the
polychaetes, which are known to have an excellent fatty acid profile for
shrimp maturation. However, attractability may become less and some
unknown maturation stimulating factors may get lost in the FD process. Try
to find out if the shrimp ingest the FD worms. Probably not. If not, the
FD product can be considered as an artificial broodstock diet ingredient.
If fresh-frozen Neanthes japonica is a successful broodstock diet, it
would easier to use them as such. Or is this the case already?
