Abstract:
The purpose of this review is to present a broad view
of the state of inland fishery enhancements in China. Two papers were the
basis of this review. These papers dealt with inland fishery enhancement
methods and effects of socio-economic and institutional factors of inland
fishery in China.
Different inland fisheries enhancement techniques are
discussed, such as protection of natural fish resources, stocking,
introduction of new species, and cage and pen fish culture. The results of
the application of these techniques were enormous for China. Besides inland
fisheries enhancements, also Chinese government policies and restructuring
of the fishery administrations, and the effect it had on fishery production
and the income of the people involved are discussed.
