Between 29-30 November, the city of Puerto Montt will host an international
seminar called "Clean Aquaculture Production: Recirculation and
Treatment Alternatives." The event is being organised by Aquabusiness
SA and the Institute for Fisheries Development (IFOP).
According to IFOP, the seminar's goals are to present and create
alternatives to diversify and support the aquaculture industry as it both
grows and consolidates. Those attending the seminar will be domestic and
foreign businessmen, specialists in the field of clean aquaculture
production and internationally recognised experts in the technical aspects
and economics of water recirculation systems and treatments of residues,
liquids and solids.
The specific themes to be discussed will be:
- Diagnosis and analysis of current uses of water in relation to production,
sanitation, and quality aspects
- Recirculation technologies: systems and equipment
- Economic evaluation of production alternatives with and without water
recirculation
- Treatment of industrial liquid residues and new technologies for tank
cleaning and environmentally friendly preventive systems
The organisers hope the seminar will represent an advance for the country's
aquaculture industry as it moves towards the development of clean
technologies that allow both improved production and higher levels of
environmental sensitivity.
