QUESTION:

Does any body know of a company that manufactures small Rotary type dryers for processing mixing and drying Artemia cysts. Just an idea; could I make one cheaply out of a large stainless steel cloths dryer with modified temperature control?

How much are you looking to produce?  Dewatering should be done in a separate process.  Consumer washing machine can be used for centrifuge - old Maytag works great with poly mesh bags to retain cysts.

Proper size s/s screen inside dryer drum necessary to retain cysts.  Dryer itself would not have to be s/s.

Other approach would be flat bed screen, preferably vibrating with hot air source beneath.

Who are you with?  You may wish to contact INVE AQUACULTURE as they had several rotary cyst dryers that were in excess.

COMMENTS 3:

I am just doing a small-scale experiment with a small quantity of cysts mixed with a larger quantity of salt (no larger than 100 kg)

2 -3 times a year maximum. Also I thought I could use a rotary drum design for homogenising/mixing Artemia feeds. Also different tumble dryers have Fines to aid mixing temperature and humidity controls.

I like the idea of using the spin-drier for dewatering. I would be doing small loads infrequently no more than 100 kg at one time.
