IFREMER RESEARCH FACILITIES
The Ifremer Aquaculture Department is now able to
offer its temperate and tropical finfish aquaculture research facilities as
a “Major Research Infrastructure” in the frame of the EU Programme “
Improving the Human Research Potential and the Socio-Economic Knowledge
Base”.
We wish to propose the testing centre within the
support scheme “Transnational Access to Major Research Infrastructures”,
the objective of which is to offer opportunities for researchers or research
teams to obtain access to the major research European infrastructures.
Thanks to the EU support, the infrastructure is free
of charge to transnational users: the European Community covers 100% of the
travel and subsistence costs for research teams of single researchers.
The access is limited to short periods, which would
not normally exceed three months, and the EU expects that the users will
publish their results within a reasonable time in the open literature.
Therefore the users who intend to conduct confidential research will not be
supported with exception of SMEs who wish to use a particular infrastructure
for the first time.
The main research themes are the following:
The aquaculture team includes 30 persons in Palavas
finfish aquaculture research station close to Montpellier (Mediterranean
sea) and 30 in Brest Center in Brittany (Atlantic Ocean). More detailed
information is available on the web site
If you are interested in participating, you have to
fill in the form proposed on the web site.
As we are in the starting phase, the first deadline
for the proposal is April 15 (2002) instead of May as indicated on the web,
in order to save time. Selection procedure should not exceed one month,
therefore experiments could start, if selected, at the end of May or early
June.
