Abstract:
Manipulated yeast diet can be used for seed
production of aquacultural organisms. Various methods for preserving the
yeast diet during the periods of circulation in market were tested, and the
preservation of the yeast diet by freeze-drying was the best. With this
preservation method, the manipulated yeasts were maintained fairly well (up
to 71%) when stored for three weeks under refrigerated condition (4 °C),
while more than 80% of the yeast protoplasts disappeared in 5 days in
control. Preservation temperature had an effect on retaining the yeast diet,
but adding 3.5% NaCl concentration in the culture medium at the time of
yeast cultivation did not.
