We hereby kindly invite you to visit http://www.easonline.org/agenda/en/AquaEuro2002/default.asp
for the information included in the 2nd announcement on the Aquaculture
Europe 2002 Conference, organised by the European Aquaculture Society (EAS)
in collaboration with the European Association of Fish Pathologists (EAFP),
and which will take place in Trieste, Italy, from October 16-19, 2002.
The conference theme, “Sea farming Today and Tomorrow” focusing on the
status and future of marine aquaculture production, will be reflected in
several plenary, parallel and poster sessions (some with authors present).
These sessions will cover 3 conference days.
In addition, 2 workshops are scheduled on October 16, 2002, i.e. the day
prior to the conference:
(1) Fish Farming and Health Management, which is being organised in
cooperation with the EAFP
(2) Certification in European Aquaculture, with financial support from the
European Commission, Directorate-General Fisheries.
To increase the interactions with the producers’ community involved
simultaneous interpretation will be available in these workshops.
The programme organisers have selected key speakers and presenters to share
their expertise with researchers, fish and shellfish farmers, suppliers,
promoters, policy makers, students and members of the public alike. A
complimentary mix of overviews on the current and future status of
aquaculture developments with more specialised papers will appeal to both
the specialist and the generalist.
During the conference specific attention will be given to:
• Research and Technologies for Sustainable Aquaculture (Recirculation,
Offshore, Integrated Systems);
• Nutrition and Environment Interactions;
• Pathology and Health Management;
• Animal Welfare;
• Interactions with the Environment - Environmental Impact Assessment and
Modelling - Best Management Practices;
• Recent Developments in the Domestication of New Species;
• Aquaculture Planning (Legal Framework, ICZM, Development);
• Tools for Resource Assessment and Management Decision Support;
• Quality Aspects, Safety and Public Image of Aquaculture Products;
Aquaculture and the EU 6th Framework Programme.
