INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON COLD WATER AQUACULTURE IN THE
21st Century
8-13 September 2003, Russia
The symposium will cover
* Biology: Systematization, ecology, physiology;
* Genetics, selection: Population genetics, gene pool preservation,
cryopreservation, genetic engineering, and maintenance of fish species;
* Artificial reproduction: Development and exploitation of broodstock,
pedigree work, fingerling breeding, stocking of natural reservoirs;
* Bioengineering: Technology, feeds and feeding, diseases and preventive
measures, breeding hardware;
* Organization of production: Management and marketing, production economy.
Seminars will also be held on i) Current status and perspectives on starter
feeds for fish and invertebrates; ii) problems and issues in reproduction of
salmon and white-fish resources; iii) aquaculture production management and
marketing; iv) round-table discussions on prospective development of cold
water aquaculture in Russia and in the world. The symposium will be
conducted in English and Russian.
The symposium will take place on board a ship traveling on the route
Saint-Petersburg - Kiji - Petrozavodsk - Valaam - Saint-Petersburg.
