QUESTION:

I am interested in staining artemia nauplii cuticle because I want  to perform an automated and quick count of Artemia brood by scanning them (after having passed them through a sieve) and then using image analysis. I was wondering if one of you knows of such stain that acts on cuticle or of helpful publications. I don't necessarily need to keep the stained nauplii alive so it can be a toxic product. however, I would rather have a water soluble stain as I want to apply it directly into the water in which I raise the brine shrimps. Thank you for your help.

COMMENTS:

Use Lugol....it stains them nicely.
