ASEFAF PROGRAMME
The
ASEFAF programme was launched in 2001 by the European Union. The target is
to give access to experiment facilities to all European scientists
specialised in aquaculture.
This proposal has now gained 18 months of experience
through 15 stays of researchers from 10 countries of Europe, notably from
South and Eastern Europe. 14 scientific papers are planned which
demonstrates the high level of the experiments and the usefulness of the
results.
There is now one last call before the end of the
ASEFAF proposal (March 2004). In order to give a little more time to
applicants to submit a proposal, the deadline had been extended to September
30th, 2003. The model proposal to be filled is simple and all
instructions are given in a guide provided with the form on the web site.
Thanks to the EU support, the infrastructure is free
of charge to transnational users: the European Community covers 100% of the
travel and subsistence costs for research teams or single researchers.
The access is limited to short periods, which would
not normally exceed three months, and the EU expects that the users will
publish their results within a reasonable time in the open literature.
Therefore the users who intend to conduct confidential resarch will not be
supported with exception of SMEs which wish to use a particular
infrastructure for the first time.
The main research themes are the following:
We do believe that this programme is an excellent
tool to build progressively the European research area as it supports
strongly the sharing of experiment facilities between all the European
researchers. Moreover it is a
good way to improve collectively the quality and efficiency of the European
research in the field of aquaculture.
