Beach profile
The beach profile should be measured from the potential site to 2 m below extreme low water. This is critical especially if marine intakes and discharges are required. Ideally, the beach profile should be determined at least 4 times over the year, as significant seasonal beach profile differences may exist. If large seasonal differences exist, multi-year data would be even better. Average slope of the off-shore bottom can usually be estimated from published charts (Colt & Huguenin, 1992).
