Tidal data |
Hatchery design requires detailed data on tidal conditions during both normal and extreme events. Data on high and low tide extremes are often difficult to acquire. Extreme tidal values are required to design against flooding and breaking waves, but other aspects of system design may be based on less severe tidal conditions. Extreme high water levels commonly result when predicted high tides coincide with strong inshore winds and/or with major (low pressure) storms (Colt & Huguenin, 1992). |
