VENUE
The conference takes place in Ghent University's historic Aula complex.
The closing banquet takes place in "de Oude Vismijn" (the old fishmarket).

ACCOMMODATION
Ghent is a popular touristic destination for a city trip, especially in late summer. We recommend to make your hotel reserations well in advance!
Block reservations for larvi participants have been made in a number of hotels (see list). Rooms from the block reservations can be booked mentioning the code LARVI2013 in your reservation request to the hotel.
A wider selection of hotels can be found at www.gent-hotels.eu, which also offers online reservation facilities.
Cheap but comfortable lodging facilities will also be available at the university dormitories at the price of 40 Euro per night. Reservations for the student dormitory
should be made when completing the online
registration form. Reservations accompanied by a
full pre-payment will be handled on a 'first come = first
served' basis.
TRAVEL
How to reach Ghent from Brussels airport: by far the easiest way to Ghent is by train, a taxi will cost you at least 100EUR and is prone to delays due to heavy traffic. Once arrived in Brussels airport, the railway station is located under the airport itself at the -2 Floor. Check the airport map.
There are:
- direct fast trains to Ghent ('Gent Sint-Pieters') at least one every hour. Journey: a little less than an hour.
- direct stop trains from the airport to Ghent. Journey: about an hour and half.
- non-direct trains whereby you need to change trains once in Brussel-Noord/Bruxelles-Nord. Journey: a little over an hour.
Consult or download the train schedule. A train ticket to Ghent (ask for 'Gent Sint Pieters') currently costs about 14.40EUR. There is no price difference between direct or stop trains. Buy your ticket at the booth or online beforehand.
How to reach Ghent by car: Ghent is at the crossroads of two great European motorways, the E17 connecting Lisbon, Paris, Ghent, Antwerp, Cologne, Copenhagen and Stockholm, and the E40 connecting London, Calais, Ghent, Frankfurt, Vienna, Budapest, Sophia and Istanbul.
From Ghent Sint-Pieters train station: The Ghent Sint Pieters station area is currently under drastic reconstruction. The situation changes permanently, for a latest update, check the site (mostly in Dutch).
- Tram line 1 (red line, direction Korenmarkt, Evergem or Wondelgem) leaves in front of the main entrance of the station, and goes towards the city centre. There is a tram approximately every five minutes
- Get off at stop 'Korte Meer’. Walk on into the direction of the tram and turn right into Voldersstraat. The Auditorium (Aula) is on your right.
There are also taxis available to the right of the main entrance of the station.
MEALS
Several restaurants and snack bars can be found in the vicinity
of the symposium venue.
However for those who prefer to take lunch at the venue itself
the organisation offers
regular and vegetarian lunches at the price of 12 Euro per lunch.
These onsite lunches
need to be ordered beforehand (see online registration form).
TOURIST INFO
Situated in the centre of Flanders, Ghent is very well located
as a base for several tourist
excursions (visit of the historic city centre of Ghent, the medieval
city of Bruges, Brussels or
a boat trip on the river Leie; for more information visit www.visitflanders.be).

Belgium has a maritime temperate climate. In september, late summer weather can be expected, that is temperatures between 18°C and 22°C. With climate change,
the climate is said to evolve to a warmer (not really noticeable) but mostly wetter (noticeable) climate. Generally, the climate can be described as 'unpredictable'.
