Suppose you have filled the biofilter successfully. You have turned on the heating and everything is working fine. The next day however, you find out that the heating element is not working properly and your temperature has increased to over 29°C. As a consequence the salinity has risen from 35 to 40 ppt due to evaporation of the water.

It is certain that these changes will have considerable consequences on the level of dissolved oxygen (DO) in the water.

Therefore, it is essential to understand the role of DO on some other parameters.
