With the colour reaction we could demonstrate the presence of chlorine in water but we were not able to quantify the concentration of the active product (OCl^-). If we want to disinfect our biofilter with for instance 100 ppm of OCl^- we should have an idea on the concentration of the product that we will use.

1.2.2.2.1 Theoretical Activity of Chlorine

On most commercial chlorine brands you will find the activity of the chlorine expressed in %. This gives the concentration of OCl^- in the bottle on the moment it was manufactured.
